Builth Wells scored a last-minute penalty to beat Rhosgoch Rangers 2-1 and so they secured the Mid Wales League (South) title.
Builth went into the game knowing a win would ensure they won the title, but they were made to work very hard by a Rhosgoch side that was clearly keen to bounce back from the disappointment of the midweek home defeat by Presteigne Reserves that ended their own interest in the title race.
Rhos went in front in the first half and battled hard to build on the advantage only for Builth to level on the stroke of half-time.
Builth then missed a penalty in the second half but they were afforded a second chance from the spot in the final minute of the game and this time they took it.
Llandrindod Wells knew if Builth slipped up then they could take the title were they to beat Talgarth Town – Llan’dod kept their part of the bargain with a 3-1 victory.
Today’s results mean Presteigne Reserves will have finished fifth in the table – a win over Knighton would have seen them leapfrog Talgarth Town into fourth spot.
