In the Spar Mid Wales League, first division, leaders Llanidloes Town extended their lead to five points although they were held to a 1-1 draw at Bow Street.
Second-placed Four Crosses were without a game, but Builth Wells – in third – moved level on points with ‘Crosses’ after they beat Welshpool Town 4-1 at Lant Field.
Aberaeron remain in fourth place but they were obviously made to work hard by the bottom side Dolgellau, although Aberaeron eventually came through 2-1.
The big winners of the day in the first division were Waterloo Rovers who came away from Llansantffraid Village with a 6-0 victory, while in the day’s other game at this level Carno won 3-0 at Aberystwyth University.
In the second division, Presteigne St Andrews’ postponed game with Llandrindod Wells was frustrating all round especially, perhaps, for the visitors who could then only kick their heels as the leaders Llanfair United extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points.
Llanfair were 3-0 winners at Abermule while third-placed Kerry also kept up the pressure with a 4-0 victory at Llanfyllin Town.
Hay St Mary’s enjoyed a good day at Forest Road where they were far too strong for visiting Aberdyfi, who presumably had plenty of time on the long trip home to reflect on their 6-1 defeat.
Elsewhere, it was to finish all square at Talgarth Town where the home side battled out a 1-1 draw with Knighton Town.
In the Mid Wales League (South), the leaders Penybont were not due to play, while second-placed Builth Wells’ game at Knighton Town Reserves was called off.
Third-placed Rhayader Town Reserves added to Sennybridge’s problems at the foot of the table after they headed home from Breconshire with a 4-1 win.
Defending champions Newcastle are fourth – seven points off the lead – after they beat visiting Radnor Valley 3-2 in south Shropshire. This result means Presteigne Reserves move above Radnor Valley in the table courtesy of their 3-1 win at Llandrindod Wells Reserves.
There were wins for Bronllys – 3-0 at Brecon Town – and for Llanidloes Town Reserves, who added to the bottom side Talgarth Town Reserves’ woes with a 5-0 win in Montgomeryshire.
St Harmon missed out on the chance to climb off the foot of the table as their home match against Bucknell was called off.
