Given the terrible weather of the weekend it was surprising that any games went ahead, but four Spar Mid Wales League games did survive.
In addition to Presteigne St Andrews’ 2-1 home defeat by Llanrhaeadr, the game at Rhayader Town went ahead where the home side took the chance to take over at the top from Aberystwyth Town despite being held 2-2 by Dyffryn Banw.
Llansantffraid Village were the big winners of the weekend – they beat bottom side Newbridge 6-2 and moved to within two points of the leaders with two games in hand.
Dolgellau – who are at Llanandras Park next weekend – opted to switch their scheduled home game to Llanfyllin Town’s ground where the sides battled out a 1-1 draw. The remaining four matches were all postponed.
In the Mid Wales League (South) in addition to CP Llanandras’ win over Penybont Athletic and Presteigne Reserves’ draw at Newcastle, two other games beat the weather.
Rhosgoch Rangers thrashed Builth Wednesdays 6-0 to remain firmly in touch at the top of the table – they are only a point behind the leaders Llandrindod Wells.
In a high-scoring affair at St Harmon the home side eventually went down 5-3 against visiting Sennybridge.
Elsewhere, Talgarth Town, who are now due at CP Llanandras next weekend, progressed in the Central Wales Cup after a 4-1 home win over Llanybbydder, while Llandrindod Wells Colts are into the third round of the Emrys Morgan Cup after they came through 4-1 in their much-postponed second-round tie at Newbridge Reserves.
