Barry Williams’ Reserve side underlined its Mid Wales League (South) title credentials with a fine 1-0 away win at Builth Wells on Saturday 28 November.
Builth went into the game with an unbeaten record in the league this season, so Barry’s side would have known this was probably going to be among the most difficult games of the season so far.
But a Tom Watkins goal ultimately proved enough for the Reserves who will have raised a lot of eyebrows around the league with this victory.
There is a more detailed report on the game at Builth on the Reserves page of the website, but suffice to say this was an excellent win for the Reserves and well done to everyone concerned.
As reported on the site earlier in the day, the first team match against Llanrhaeadr and CP Llanandras’ scheduled home game against Talgarth Town both fell victim to the weather.
Early-morning pitch inspections of both Llanandras Park and the John Beddoes School field led to club chairman Alan Randell – a qualified referee – calling off the games as there was standing water on both playing surfaces.
