The match of the weekend in the Spar Mid Wales League is tonight (Friday 4 December) in which second-placed Llansantffraid Village host the leaders Rhayader Town.
Penparcau will be watching matters at Llanandras Park keenly as a win for Presteigne over third-placed Aberystwyth Reserves would afford Penparcau the chance to close the gap between Aber and themselves to a single point, assuming they can beat visiting Waterloo Rovers.
Llanrhaeadr have blown hot and cold in recent weeks, but they will fancy their chances of getting something from their trip to Newtown Reserves, while Tywyn Bryncrug will feel likewise about their home match against Caersws Reserves.
Towards the bottom of the table, Newbridge face a tough-looking game at Bow Street, while fellow strugglers Llanfyllin Town and Dolgellau both face tricky away games – Llanfyllin are at Carno, while Dolgellau head to a Dyffryn Banw side that won 4-0 at Aberystwyth Reserves last time out. Elsewhere, Hay St Marys look to start their fixture catch-up schedule with a tough-looking trip to improving Aberystwyth University.
The Emrys Morgan Cup takes precedence over league matches for some in the Mid Wales League (South) this weekend including, of course, Presteigne Reserves.
Rhosgoch Rangers are the side looking to profit – they can go top if they beat visiting Rhayader Town Reserves as the leaders Llandrindod Town are without a game.
Among the other attractive games tomorrow is Talgarth Town’s trip to Newcastle, while Builth Wells will look to bounce back from last week’s first defeat of the league season when they head to Sennybridge.
CP Llanandras will attempt to put a spanner in the works of Hay St Marys Reserves on the John Beddoes School field, while Knighton Town will fancy their chances of further progress at home to the league’s bottom side St Harmon.
Llanandras will be especially keen to get something from their game as the two sides immediately below them in the league – Newbridge Reserves and Builth Wednesdays – are due to meet at Newbridge.
