Busy weekend on and off the field..

presteignefc[1]Presteigne St Andrews are gearing up for an even busier weekend than normal – always assuming the weather behaves itself and the worst of the predicted snow and freezing temperatures stay wll clear.

The first team will host a Newbridge side that is bottom of the Spar Mid Wales League, but which has been showing signs of improvement in recent games in which they have pushed both Bow Street and Aberystwyth University close.

Barry Williams takes his in-form Reserve side to another of the title hopefuls in the Mid Wales League (South) – Llandrindod Wells.

CP Llanandras are also on the road this weekend and they, too, face a trip to a club with designs on playing at a higher level next season in Builth Wells.

There are previews of all of these matches up on the respective pages on the site, so just click on the relevant link at the top of the page.   If you want to check up on the weather prospects, then click here.

Off the field, the December 100 Club draw is due to take place in the clubhouse after the Newbridge game, so why not hang on afterwards and see if you have landed yourself an unexpected Christmas bonus?

Saturday night will see a number of local bands taking to the stage in the Football Club for a music night, as organised by committee member Will Edwards.   A reminder that you can get your tickets in advance at Lorna’s in Presteigne or The Bookshop in Knighton.   The tickets will cost £6.00 in advance, or £7.00 on the night.

There will be a bar available, and a shuttle bus will run from the clock tower at the Market Hall in Presteigne between 8.00 and 9.45pm.

Then, just to round things off, there will be the club’s Christmas Draw in the Farmers Inn at around 9.00pm on Sunday 20 December.   All are welcome to come and have a drink and join the communal festive moan: ‘I don’t know why I bother buying tickets because I never win…'(!)
