CP Llanandras’ home Mid Wales League (South) match against Radnor Valley scheduled for Monday 28 December has been postponed.
Originally due to be played at Llanandras Park, the game was switched to the John Beddoes School field when it became clear there was no way it would be played on the town ground.
An early-morning inspection of Llanandras Park revealed parts of the ground to be frozen solid, especially in the Lugg View-end goalmouth.
The decision was taken to try switching the game to the John Beddoes School field in the hope that the sun might thaw those sections of the pitch that were frozen.
But Andy Hammersley (Spam) and chairman Alan Randell took another look at around 11.45am and quickly came to the conclusion that there was no way the game could go ahead.
There were no matches played in the Mid Wales League (South) today as the scheduled game between Rhayader Town Reserves and St Harmon and the rearranged Builth and Llandrindod Wells derby matches were all called off.
The weather forecast is for more plunging temperatures and the threat of heavy snow which – if it proves accurate – will clearly put the weekend games in some doubt, but I will update the site with further information across the week as and when we get it.
In the meantime, if you want to check out the weather prospects, then you could do worse than click here and take a look. If you click on the button marked ‘Loop 24 hours’ on the menu on the left-hand side then, as the name suggests, the graphic will show you what to expect over the coming day.
