Assuming the big freeze subsides by the weekend, there is the usual packed programme of football scheduled across Mid Wales.
Spar Mid Wales League leaders Llansantffraid Village face a tricky opening game of 2010 when they will head to Waterloo Rovers on Saturday 2 January.
As Presteigne St Andrews found out when they went to Waterloo, the home side can prove difficult to break down on their own ground, so this could prove a stiff test.
Second-placed Aberystwyth Reserves return to action with a potentially tough derby game at Penparcau, who are fifth in the table, while third-placed Tywyn Bryncrug also face a tricky away game – they go to Carno.
Fourth-placed Rhayader Town are due at Llanandras Park, while Llanrhaeadr – who are in sixth place – head to Llanfyllin Town.
Elsewhere, Bow Street will fancy their chances of adding to Dolgellau’s problems towards the foot of the table, while Hay St Marys make the relatively short trip to bottom side Newbridge.
The Emrys Morgan Cup will occupy the thoughts of a number of Mid Wales League (South) clubs, including of course Presteigne Reserves who face a fourth-round trip to Montgomery Town.
Also in the fourth round, Llandrindod Wells will host Llanidloes Town, while Talgarth Rovers are due to entertain Felinfach.
There are third round ties for Builth Wednesdays who head to Aberaeron and Penybont Athletic, who face a trip to Bettws. Penybont United will host Rhayader Town Reserves at the Racecourse.
Mid Wales League (South) leaders Rhosgoch Rangers will look to at least consolidate their five-point lead with a win at Sennybridge, but Builth Wells will look to capitalise on any slip-ups by beating visiting Knighton Town.
Talgarth Town will be hoping the John Beddoes School field beats the freeze as they would be hopeful of seeing off the challenge of CP Llanandras, while Llandrindod Wells Colts travel to Newcastle.
It is an away trip to Radnor Valley for Hay St Marys Reserves, while St Harmon will be hoping the new year brings them their first league win of the season when fellow strugglers Newbridge Reserves visit.
