Mixed fortunes on double derby day

Presteigne St Andrews FC’s two teams had starkly contrasting fortunes in terms of their league games on Saturday, 5 March.

The first team went into their home match against Radnorshire rivals, Newbridge, knowing they really needed a win from this one if they were not be looking over their shoulders towards the relegation places in the Spar Mid Wales League, second division.

The first team didn’t disappoint – they ran out 3-1 winners with goals from Kai Dayas, Josh Gardner and Alan Stocker seeing them home.

A more detailed report on the first-team game will be up online shortly.

As for the Reserves, I am afraid it wasn’t to be for them as they headed to Llandrindod Wells Reserves for their Mid Wales League (South) game.

Duane Anning and John Bright’s side ended up on the wrong end of a 4-1 score line in this one and I don’t have too many details to hand as yet.

As soon as I do, I will upload these on to the website, too, but looking at the first-team report from the weekend, it would appear that, once again, the Reserves had to supply a number of key players for first-team duty.

This was, presumably, a factor in their result at The Broadway but, as I say, when I glean a little more information, I will add this on to the website.
