Yes, it’s that time of the year when we all get another couple of days off (well, most of us – not that I am bitter in any way, shape or form..), the shops clear the shelves of chocolate eggs and start to fill them with Hallowe’en stuff, and kids eat twice their own bodyweight in chocolate in one weekend.
Easter is almost upon us and, as far as Presteigne St Andrews FC is concerned, this can mean only one thing – The Annual Maundy Thursday Quiz.
This has become quite a fixture on the town’s social scene in recent years with a host of teams trying their level best to prove that they could, indeed, be the ones to lower Norton United’s colours.
I seem to recall ‘Norton City’ have got close to beating Norton United in recent years, while it can surely be only a matter of time before ‘Athletico Norton’ take their place in the competition as we go all ‘Champions League’.
This year’s event will be held on Thursday, 24 March at the clubhouse at Llanandras Park with a start time of 7.30pm for 8.00pm.
Andrew Williams will be the ‘Jeremy Paxman’ of Llanandras Park as he will be firing the questions and, as anyone who has ever taken part in ‘Drewie’s’ quizzes in the Oak will know, there is usually a good cross-section of subjects covered.
So, why not get a team of four together and enter the quiz? It could be just the perfect way of starting your Easter break.
