The Spar Mid Wales League Secretary Phil Woosnam has clarified the position over the fixtures for Saturday 16 January.
As most people will know, Presteigne St Andrews’ Central Wales Cup tie at home to Technogroup Welshpool Town that was scheduled for Saturday 9 January was postponed – no prizes for guessing why…
Originally it was thought that this would lead to the tie being rescheduled for next Saturday (16 January) as is the norm, but this will not be the case this time and so Presteigne will be in league action instead.
Phil Woosnam has emailed clubs clarifying the position: ‘After consultation this evening with the CWFA fixture secretary, it is confirmed that next week’s league games will be as originally scheduled.
‘The only CWFA cup match next week will be between Aber Uni and Machynlleth as scheduled.
‘The other postponed CWFA ties will either be played in midweek under lights where applicable or be put back to the next conference date on 13th February.’
So, assuming the weather conditions ease, Presteigne St Andrews will host Llanfyllin Town on Saturday 16 January when the kick off will be at 2.30pm.
But conditions are not looking too promising with snow forecast for Sunday and freezing temperatures for the remainder of the week, so we are not holding our breath…
One other fixture has been rearranged – the derby game against Newbridge at Llanandras Park is now scheduled for Wednesday 17 February.
