Presteigne St Andrews FC
A good point for the Reserves at Newcastle

Presteigne St Andrews FC were beaten 3-2 at home by Churchstoke in their Spar Mid Wales League, second-division fixture at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 19 March.

Presteigne made a good start to the game with Kieran Lusher scoring a tremendous goal when he lobbed the visiting goalkeeper with an opportunist goal from 35 yards.

But the visitors were to turn the game on its head before half-time when they scored twice before the break to go in with a 2-1 lead.

Churchstoke extended this lead in the second period before Kieran Lusher was brought down inside the area around 10 minutes from time.

Danny Evans – who had come on as a substitute – stepped up to score from the spot to set up a grandstand finish, but Churchstoke held on for the win.

As for the Reserves, they came away from Newcastle with a very creditable 2-2 draw in their Mid Wales League (South).

Tom Crichton and Merv Stephens were on target for Duane Anning and John Bright’s side who deserve a lot of credit for their performance and result as Newcastle is usually a tough place to go.
