Midweek action under the lights at Llanandras Park

Presteigne St Andrews FC will be back into Spar Mid Wales League, second-division action on Wednesday, 23 March when they will host Berriew at Llanandras Park.

Given the visitors are top of the table, this has all the makings of being a potentially tricky evening for Mark Weiland and his side.

They were disappointed to go down 3-2 at home to Churchstoke in their last outing at the weekend and everyone is well aware – with all due respect to last Saturday’s visitors – this is likely to be another step up in class.

Berriew are a point clear at the top of the table and have lost only twice this season so their record speaks for itself.

But one of those defeats came last Saturday when they went down 2-1 at their nearest challengers for the title – Aberystwyth University.

Despite that defeat, Berriew then received a boost on Sunday when the Uni were held to a 1-1 draw at bottom side, Penybont.

As things stand, Berriew might only be a point clear, but they do have three games in hand and so the title is surely theirs to lose.

Tonight’s game will kick off at 7.30pm and the admission prices will be the usual £2.50 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
