Presteigne St Andrews’ Spar Mid Wales League match against Llanfyllin Town has been postponed following a pitch inspection on Friday morning.
This was never going to be the most taxing of decisions for club chairman Alan Randell who, as a qualified referee, is entitled to make the ruling.
“There is still five inches of snow on the pitch so it was never going to be on,” he said.
“Even if by some miracle the snow had cleared yesterday and today, the pitch is frozen underneath, so the game would still not have gone ahead.
“It is the same story on the John Beddoes School field, so CP Llanandras’ scheduled Mid Wales League (South) match is also off.
“To be honest, I wouldn’t hold your breath for the Under 18s game against Leominster in the Giantkillers Cup on Monday [18 January] as that one has also got to be in considerable doubt,” he added.
Completing the hat-trick, the Reserves’ trip to Rhosgoch Rangers was also postponed – that news came through on Friday evening, but was surely no great surprise as Rhos is ‘up in the air a bit’ so has probably had more than its fair share of snow.
For those who might even be faintly interested in this kind of stat – both the Reserves and CP Llanandras have now had five successive matches postponed due to the big freeze.
