As had been widely anticipated, Presteigne St Andrews Under 18s’ game in the Giantkillers Cup against Leominster that was scheduled for Monday 18 January has been called off.
The Under 18s manager Trevor Gummer went down to Llanandras Park earlier today, although he admits it was more in hope than expectation of the game going ahead.
But large parts of the field were waterlogged while there was still snow on part of the field, so the match was never going to go ahead.
“From up the road it looks great then I got to the fence and all you could see was water and snow in the goals and with what the weather is meant to be like tomorrow then its a non-starter,” he said.
“It is a massive shame as the lads were pretty keen to get back together and turn the season around.
“The cup competition will be a great starting point when we get back on track,” he added.
A new date will now have to be arranged and as soon as the club is informed we will post the details here on the site.
