Presteigne St Andrews FC’s manager Tom Ammonds admits the home defeat by Abermule in the club’s last outing was bitterly disappointing, but he says it’s important they put it behind them.

“It was really disappointing, to be frank; we didn’t have a good performance,” said Tom.

“We’ve addressed the issues that we’ve had in the game, but it was just one of those games for us.

“If it hadn’t have been for [goalkeeper] Simon [Hamer] who’s been excellent, we could have conceded a lot more,” he added.

Simon’s fine performances for the side this season were recognised when he was selected to play for the Central Wales Representative squad.

Kerry will be the next scheduled visitors to Llanandras Park on Saturday, 11 February, but this game will be subject to a pitch inspection.

“The game is definitely subject to the weather; obviously, the Reserves’ game on Wednesday night was off,” said Tom.

“If it doesn’t improve, we’re going to be up against it purely because it is just so wet.

“I’d like to make the call tomorrow night [Friday, 10 February] but league regulations say you can’t make the call until the day of the game.”

The Reserves are also due to return to action on Saturday, 11 February when they will head to Newcastle for a Mid Wales League (South) game.

As soon as we have any news regarding the outcome of any pitch inspections we will post them online.

Assuming the first-team match goes ahead, the kick off will be at 2.30pm and admission prices will be the usual £3.00 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
