Congratulations to Presteigne St Andrews’ manager Tim Broome who has been named Spar Mid Wales League manager of the month for December.

The first team enjoyed two wins and a draw in a month in which the snow and ice played a key role.

Ironically, Presteigne’s excellent performance in winning 1-0 at Hay St Marys on Boxing Day helped determine who would win the player of the month – that award when to the Hay keeper Steve Price who had a tremendous game against Presteigne.

Presteigne chairman Alan Randell said he was delighted Tim’s hard work had been recognised in this way.

“I am sure I speak on behalf of everyone connected with the club in congratulating Tim on his award,” he said.

“We all know circumstances pre-season meant he had to hit the ground running this season, but the signs were there in December that the talented bunch of individuals are now starting to gel as a team.

“Here’s hoping this is the first of a number of such awards Tim picks up in the coming months,” he added.

Tim Broome is hoping to arrange a friendly for Thursday 21 January in the hope of getting in some match practice ahead of the trip to league leaders Llansantffraid Village on Saturday but this is yet to be confirmed.
