Football is back – well, hopefully…

The Reserves will head to Montgomery Town in the Emrys Morgan Cup
The Reserves will head to Montgomery Town in the Emrys Morgan Cup

After the freezing conditions of the last month or so, it is hoped that all three Presteigne sides will return to action this weekend with two of them on their travels.

The first team head to Llansantffraid Village in the Spar Mid Wales League when they will look to become the first club to win a league game at Llansantffraid this season.

As for the Reserves, it will be an away day to Montgomery Town for them as they will play their rescheduled Emrys Morgan Cup fourth-round tie.

Barry’s side, too, will come up against a side that is clearly in decent form – Montgomery have won all 13 league matches so far this season in the Montgomeryshire Amateur League first division.

CP Llanandras are scheduled to have home advantage in their Mid Wales League (South) game against Talgarth Town  – a tough return to action for ‘Crowie’s’ side after the lay off as Talgarth are going well this season.

If we are being honest, they gave the Reserves a bit of a lesson in a league game at Llanandras Park back in September, but hope springs eternal for the CP Llanandras squad and here’s hoping they can spring what would be something of a surprise.

There are detailed match previews of all three matches on the respective pages and – should it come to it – there will be news of any postponements posted on Saturday morning  just as soon as I get it.

A pitch inspection on Friday afternoon confirmed the John Beddoes School field was playable, but there is more heavy rain expected overnight, so club chairman Alan Randell plans to take another look at 9.30am on Saturday.

Hopefully the rain will not lead to any further postponements, but if you want to keep in touch with the weather prospects, then you can click here.
