Congratulations to Presteigne St Andrews FC’s stalwart Les Pitt whose massive contribution to the club was recognised as a presentation evening at Llanandras Park on Friday, 20 July.

Club officials realised earlier this year that Les had been an active figure within the club and the committee for more than 50 years and so we applied to the Football Association of Wales for a medal to mark the achievement.

Les joined the committee as a representative of the junior teams and has been a key member of it ever since, holding a number of offices along the way.

He is currently the Minutes Secretary while he undertakes a range of other roles including looking at insurance and planning issues.

It should be stressed that all of this took place without Les ever suspecting a thing and we are grateful to club officials and his family for playing their part in ensuring the evening came as a complete surprise to the man himself.

The evening was billed as a ‘social for committee members and their partners’ and Les freely admitted he didn’t suspect a thing in the run up to the event.

Our thanks to our local Football Association of Wales representative Phil Woosnam for joining us for the evening and for playing his part in the presentation of the award.

A good evening was reportedly had by all and it proved a fitting way to mark such a notable landmark – congratulations, once again to Les.
