With things tightening up at the top of the Spar Mid Wales League a number of this weekend’s games could have a major bearing on the leading spots in the division.
Presteigne St Andrews’ trip to Aberystwyth University is a clash between two of the division’s form sides, but both still have a bit to do if they are to get up among the leading clubs. A win for Tim Broome’s side could, though, take them up as high as seventh place in the table.
The leaders Aberystwyth Reserves are involved in one of the games of the day as they head to Llanrhaeadr. While the home side is down in eighth spot, they are only six points behind Aber, so there will be no shortage of incentive for both sides.
Second-placed Tywyn Bryncrug head to Waterloo Rovers while third-placed Bow Street would have been optimistic about their chances of taking something from their Friday night trip to Caersws Reserves.
Rhayader Town will be looking to keep up the pressure on those around them with a win at Llanfyllin Town while Llansantffraid Village will be keen to prove last week’s thrashing by Presteigne was merely a blip when they host Dolgellau.
Elsewhere the bottom side Newbridge have home advantage for their game against Carno, while Penparcau and Hay St Marys will meet in the League Cup quarter-final.
In the Mid Wales League (South), the leaders Rhosgoch Rangers head to Talgarth Rovers, while their closest rivals Talgarth Town will fancy their chances of keeping up the pressure with a win at bottom side St Harmon.
Third-placed Hay St Marys Reserves will host Rhayader Town Reserves, while Builth Wells travel to Newcastle.
CP Llanandras face a trip to another of the title-hopefuls Llandrindod Wells while Presteigne Reserves will look take advantage of any slip-ups by their rivals by beating Newbridge Reserves at Llanandras Park.
Elsewhere, Knighton Town face a trip to Penybont United while the other Penybont side – Athletic – head to Builth Wednesdays. Radnor Valley will play hosts to Sennybridge.
