A Tuesday-night win under the lights for the Reserves

Presteigne Reserves’ joint-manager Mark Weiland had challenged his players to back up their opening-night win at Hay St Mary’s and they didn’t disappoint.

The Reserves ran out 8-2 winners at home to Knighton Town Reserves in their Mid Wales League (South) fixture at Llanandras Park on Tuesday, 28 August.

It was a particularly productive first half for the Reserves who were reportedly 6-0 up after 40 minutes.

Injuries to Billy Hyett and Terry Williams led to enforced changes in the second half while – to their credit – Knighton Reserves did up their game after the break as they hit back to score two goals of their own.

But the Reserves had the game in the bag by the interval and so it’s six points from six.

Details on goal scorers and other major talking points will follow when  ‘Weedo’ puts finger to keyboard.

But well done to everyone involved – it’s always good to win a derby game in such emphatic style.

The Reserves will now have a blank Saturday this weekend (1 September) as the scheduled home game against St Harmon has been postponed due to a wedding.
