The first team went down 1-0 in their Spar Mid Wales League match at Aberystwyth University while the Reserves enjoyed a good home win over Newbridge Reserves.
The early indications are that Tim Broome’s side had plenty of the play up at Aber, but they just could not score, so the students have now reeled off nine wins on the bounce in all competitions.
Meanwhile, the Reserves were comfortable 6-1 winners over Newbridge Reserves in their Mid Wales League (South) match at Llanandras Park with skipper Alan Stocker leading the way with a hat-trick. Tom Watkins, Callum Matthews and Nigel Duggan were also on target as the Reserves scored six against Newbridge Reserves for the second time this season.
CP Llanandras went down 6-0 in their match at Llandrindod Wells but there is a suggestion (from a normally reliable source) that the decision to play the game was not without controversy.
‘Crowie’s’ side had a man sent off for retaliation and a number of players reportedly picked up injuries.
It is hoped to have the match reports up on either Sunday 31 January or Monday 1 February, depending on just when I receive the information from the respective managers.
In other news, the draw has been made for the Bucknell Cup semi-final and it throws up the possibility of an all-Presteigne tie as the Reserves will meet the winners of the Hinton Reserves-CP Llanandras tie that is due to be played on Thursday 18 February.
It is promising to be a busy period for CP Llanandras as they will also host Leominster Town Reserves in their Sparey Cup tie first-round tie on Sunday 14 February when the kick off on the John Beddoes School field will be at 2.00pm.
