Presteigne Reserves’ winning start to the season came to an abrupt end at Llanandras Park on Friday, 7 September.
Talgarth Town proved too strong on the night as they ran out 6-1 winners in the top-of-the-table clash.
Both sides went into the fixture with 100 percent league records so something was always going to have to give.
There was frustration for the Reserves’ joint-managers Mark Weiland and Alan Stocker ahead of the game as they had a number of players unavailable and so were going to have to field a much-changed squad.
Tom Lewis was the Presteigne goalscorer when he netted from the penalty spot.
So, a tough night for the Reserves but here’s hoping it’s only a temporary setback as it’s otherwise been an encouraging start to the season.
Well done to Talgarth Town, though – on this evidence they are clearly going to be among the sides to beat in the ‘South’ this season.
