Presteigne Reserves’ joint-manager Mark Weiland admitted his side had an off-night on Friday, 7 September when they went down 6-1 at home to Talgarth Town.
“To be honest, we had a night to forget – we didn’t start at all well and looked very nervous on the ball,” said Mark.
“Our passing was disappointing as it was nowhere near the standard it has been.
“We conceded about 15 minutes in from a free kick which was headed in.
“We then conceded a sloppy second goal but managed to pull one back through Tom Lewis who scored from the spot after he was fouled.
“I thought we’d wake up a bit then but we conceded two more goals before half-time.
“In the second half we did come out a bit better but we kept giving the ball away cheaply.
“We had a few chances to reduce the score line but Talgarth scored another two goals.
“We weren’t at the races from the start of the game and this is what cost us.
“It didn’t help to have seven regulars missing which was very frustrating as we knew Talgarth was always going to be a hard game.
“Fair play to Talgarth, after their problems last season they’ve got a very good side again and they will definitely be challenging for the league this season.
“We host St Harmon on Wednesday night so it’s good we haven’t got to long to wait to try to put things right.”
