Saturday, 22 September was to prove one of those days it’s probably best to put behind us quickly and move on after both the First Team and Reserves were beaten in their respective league matches.
The first team went down 3-1 at home to MMP with Norman Lloyd Mid Wales League second-division leaders Montgomery Town.
The scoreline was, perhaps, harsh on Shaun Harris’ side who were in the game for long periods and who had recovered well from going behind in the first two minutes.
New signing Curtis Williams opened his account for the club with a well-taken equaliser and suddenly Presteigne were right back in the game.
But Montgomery regained the league in the dying seconds of the first half and, while Presteigne worked hard in the second half, they rarely threatened to find an equaliser.
Monty wrapped up the points late on with a very well-taken third goal and so Presteigne are left still looking for their first league win of the season.
There will be more reaction to come from Shaun later in the day.
Meanwhile, there was to be no joy for the Reserves who were beaten 3-0 at Builth Wells Reserves in their Mid Wales League (South) game.
Again, we’ll be after some reaction from the Reserves’ management team but they will know full well of the need to turn things around quickly as this defeat means it’s now no win in four for the Ressies.
