Not a great weekend on the field…

Disappointment all round

Presteigne St Andrews FC had another disappointing weekend as neither side was able to come away from their respective game with anything to show for their efforts.

The Reserves were first into action on Friday, 28 September when they hosted Llandrindod Wells Reserves at Llanandras Park.

After a disappointing run of results, Mark Weiland and Alan Stocket would have desperately keen to stop the rot but it wasn’t to be as Llan’dod Reserves headed home with all three points courtesy of a 3-2 victory.

On Saturday the first team headed to Dyffryn Banw for their MMP with Norman Lloyd League second-division fixture.

One goal was to settle this one as the  home took all three points.

Of more immediate concern was an injury to Matt Venables who could be sidelined for up to two months.

He picked up a foot injury during the first half and was taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

It’s reported these revealed tendon and soft tissue damage that means Matt will be out of action for the foreseeable future.

We send him our best wishes for a speedy recovery and hope his return is quicker than originally anticipated.

This was to prove a massively frustrating afternoon for Shaun Harris and his side who created a large number of chances but who were unable to convert any of them.

Dyffryn Banw scored before the break and defended stoutly with Ioan Hughes probably coming closest for Presteigne when his effort came back off a post.

I will chase the respective managers for their observations on their side’s showings and will add these in if and when I get them.
