A tough trip to Ceredigion for the Reserves

Presteigne Reserves went out of the J Emrys Morgan Cup at the first-round stage as they were beaten 4-1 at Bow Street Reserves in their first-round tie on Saturday, 6 October.

This was to prove a hugely frustrating afternoon for the squad as little went for them in this one.

There were some concerns about the standard of officialdom in this game but that’s to take nothing away from Bow Street Reserves who still contrived to score four goals to our one.

Tom Lewis was the Reserves’ goalscorer in this one but, after a bright start to the season, it is now six games without a victory.

Still, credit to the Reserves for making the trip – it is slightly worrying to note that, in what is a prestigious Cup competition, there were no fewer than six walkovers in the first round.

Spare a thought, too, for Felindre who – after losing 14-0 at home by Crannog in their first-round tie on 29 September – then went down 17-0 in a Mid Wales League (South) fixture at Hay St Mary’s Reserves this weekend.
