Presteigne St Andrews FC will return to MMP with Norman Lloyd League second-division action on Tuesday, 9 October.
They will take on Newbridge-on-Wye at Llanandras Park in a game that is due to kick off at 7.30pm.
After the frustrations of Saturday’s trip to Dyffryn Banw, manager Shaun Harris and his players could be forgiven for feeling a bit sorry for themselves as they prepare for this game.
But they know there is no point in feeling sorry for themselves – it’s all about picking yourselves up, dusting yourselves down and going again.
A cursory glance at the league table would suggest this has the makings of another tough game as Newbridge are currently in second place in the division.
But this is, perhaps, not a true reflection of the real picture as they have played 10 league matches compared to Presteigne’s six.
In fact, Newbridge-on-Wye have played at least two more matches than any other side in the division.
It has been something of a mixed season for the Villagers – when they have been good, they have been very good and this includes a 4-1 win at Dolgellau and a 2-0 success at Waterloo Rovers.
But there was a 5-1 defeat at Rhayader Town and a 6-0 reversal at Montgomery Town while their fixtures against Hay St Mary’s have produced a couple of odd results.
They were spanked 8-0 at home by Hay on a Wednesday night in August but then, in the return game at Forest Road on Saturday, 1 September, Newbridge won 5-2.
So, you can read what you like into those results in terms of some kind of form guide but it should make for an interesting game on Tuesday night.
Only Hay St Mary’s with 30 have scored more than Newbridge’s 27 goals – yet the Villagers have shipped 30 goals with 18 being the next worst record of any side in the division.
Admission for Tuesday night’s game will be the usual £3.00 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
