Presteigne St Andrews FC picked up a second successive home MMP with Norman Lloyd league victory when they saw off Aberystwyth University 4-3 at Llanandras Park on Tuesday, 30 October.
The game kicked off late – reportedly due to an initial lack of referee – but, when it did get underway, Presteigne were soon into their stride.
First-half goals from Tom Crichton and Jordan Cooper saw Presteigne head into the dressing room two-nil to the good at the break.
Tom Lewis was then on target after the interval to make it 3-0 and seemingly to put clear blue water between the sides.
But the students had other ideas and no doubt alarm bells would have been ringing among the home-team supporters when the Uni side pulled back one goal – and then another one.
At 3-2 it was ‘game on’ but Sam Roberts went some way towards steadying Presteigne nerves when he scored the home side’s fourth goal.
Back came Aberystwyth University again and they netted a third goal on the night but fortunately this was to mark the end of the scoring and Presteigne St Andrews held on for an important three points.
Well done to everyone involved – one thing is for sure, it’s not going to be dull watching the first team this season.
Their last three matches have now yielded no fewer than 23 goals!
