There is another busy weekend in prospect with both Presteigne St Andrews FC and Presteigne Reserves due in action on Saturday, 3 November.
Actually, given the amount of Friday-night football there has been this season, it is fairly unusual for both sides to be in action on a Saturday.
The first team will host Rhayader Town in the first round of the ER Jenkins Cup at Llanandras Park.
A reminder from the outset that this game will kick off at the slightly earlier time of 2.15pm so as to allow for extra time and penalties should they be needed.
Rhayader were promoted to the MMP with Norman Lloyd second division this season after winning the Mid Wales League (South) last time around.
They have started well and are currently fourth in the table although they are yet to win away this season.
However, they are likely to pose a good test as, despite no wins on the road so far, Rhayader have drawn five of their away matches so far.
As for the Reserves, they will head to Felindre for their Mid Wales League (South) fixture.
The Ressies will be in confident mood after their fine win over Llanidloes Town Reserves at Llanandras Park last time out.
Club President, Edward Traylor told me that was the best Reserves’ performance he had seen for many a year.
Felindre are having a tough season but they are sticking to the task well and no doubt the management team of Alan Stocker and Tom Ammonds will be impressing on their players that there is no room for complacency.
Felindre have lost all eight of their league games so far this season and have been on the wrong end of a few sizeable scorelines – including a 17-0 reversal at Hay St Mary’s Reserves.
They lost 9-0 at Talgarth Town last time out and 8-0 at Newcastle before that, but their home games have generally been much closer affairs.
They went down 1-0 at against visiting Llandrindod Wells Reserves early in the season while they have scored in the majority of their home matches including three in the home reversal by Penybont Reserves.
Admission prices for the first-team game will be the usual £3.00 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
