It was another of those mixed weekends for our team on Saturday, 24 November as one team recorded a fine win while the other went down away from home.
Presteigne St Andrews always knew a trip to Rhayader Town was likely to prove a test as Rhayader’s home form so far this season has been very solid.
Ultimately this proved to be the case as Rhayader ran out 2-0 winners in their MMP with Norman Lloyd League second-division meeting.
Sadly this result means the first team squad is still looking for their first away in the MMP with Norman Lloyd Mid Wales League this season.
As for the Reserves, there was much better news from their Mid Wales League (South) game at Llanandras Park.
Alan Stocker and Tom Ammonds’ side ran out 6-3 winners over Hay St Mary’s Reserves.
Tom Lewis had the Reserves on their way in this one as he put Presteigne in front with debutant Lewis Jones then scoring a fine solo effort to make it 2-0.
Spencer Napolitano netted from close range to make it 3-0 by half-time and the Reserves were looking well set.
But Hay’s Reserves then pulled a goal back after the break before Spencer Napolitano and Tom Lewis each then scored their second of the game to put the Ressies 5-1 to the good.
Hay wouldn’t lie down and they scored their second of the game before Gareth Bull’s strike seemingly put the game to bed as Presteigne Reserves now led 6-2.
But Hay’s second string was to have the final say as they scored their third of the day to make the final score Presteigne Reserves 6-3 Hay St Mary’s Reserves.
