Presteigne St Andrews FC have regretfully had to call off the Mid Wales League (South) fixture at Newcastle on Saturday, 5 January.

The management team say they are bitterly disappointed but had only 10 outfield players confirm their availability.

On top of this, the Reserves were without a goalkeeper and so they were left with no option other than to postpone the game.

The club would like to apologise to both Newcastle FC and the Mid Wales League (South) but hope they appreciate the position in which we found ourselves.

Travelling without any substitutes is one thing but recent history has told us that ‘volunteering’ an outfield player to go in goal isn’t a great plan.

Supporters might remember that the Ressies’ then manager Mark Weiland donned the gloves for a game at Felindre but then sustained a broken leg.

We are awaiting international clearance for Simon Hamer who is planning on returning to the club but this will not come through before the weekend.

Newcastle have reportedly agreed to come to Llanandras Park for a midweek game and the Reserves will head back to Shropshire on a Saturday later in the season.
