It might only be Saturday, 2 March, but Presteigne St Andrews FC will play their final home MMP with Norman Lloyd League second division match of the season in which they will host Dolgellau at Llanandras Park.
When the sides met at Dolgellau back on Saturday, 8 September Presteigne went down 2-1 with Ewan Rhodes on target.
While it’s been a tough season for the first team they have, of course, shown welcome signs of life in recent weeks with back-to-back wins at Newbridge-on-Wye and then at home to Borth United.
Our thanks to club President Edward Traylor for marking the week of his 80th birthday by sponsoring this game.
No doubt Shaun Harris and his squad will be keen to round off the home league programme in the best possible manner by making it three wins on the spin.
Dolgellau arrive at Llanandras Park one place and one point above Presteigne in the league table albeit with the small matter of four games in hand.
But a win for Presteigne would take them above the visitors for the time being, at least.
After Saturday’s game it’s looking very likely that the first team will then have to wait at least a month to play their one outstanding fixture – a trip to Four Crosses.
A reminder – there is no game this weekend for the Reserves due to ongoing repair work after flooding at Talgarth Town FC.
Saturday’s match at Llanandras Park is due to kick off at 2.30pm and admission prices will be the usual £3.00 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
