Presteigne Reserves will take centre stage on Saturday, 21 September when they will head to Builth Wells Reserves for a Mid Wales League (South) fixture.
It is no exaggeration to say the Reserves’ season to date has been a bit up and down and this has been neatly encapsulated in their last two league outings.
First, there was a 5-3 home win over Felindre at Llanandras Park, but this was followed up by a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Llandrindod Wells Reserves.
We can almost completely disregard the 16-0 defeat by Brecon Corries – except to note that, in the grand scheme of things, that is almost respectable given Corries put 20 unanswered goals past Felindre and no fewer than 27 past Knighton Town Reserves.
One thing is for sure, Corries should clearly not be in the ‘South’ this season – on current form there would be little to frighten them in the MMP with Norman Lloyd second division.
As for Builth Wells Reserves, they have also blown a bit hot and cold so far this season and are currently one point better off than Presteigne Reserves in the league table although they have played one game more than Bryn Roberts’ side.
So, it will be a 2.30pm kick off at Lant Field for this one and, given there is no first-team game, it’s to be hoped Bryn has a galaxy of riches from which to select for the fixture.
Here’s hoping they can bring home a positive result.
