After a frustrating couple of weeks due to the weather intervening, Presteigne St Andrews FC are due to return to competitive action on Wednesday, 30 October.
Terry Williams’ side is due to host Waterloo Rovers in the first round of the ER Jenkins Cup at Llanandras Park where the kick off is scheduled for 7.30pm.
We were, of course, due to head to Waterloo for a league game last weekend but that was one of many local matches to go by the wayside due to the heavy rain.
The ER Jenkins Cup is essentially a League Cup for second division clubs and, while it will never be a top priority in any given season, it does present a chance to get the show back on the road.
But Waterloo will prove a very tough nut to crack – after all, they headed home from Llanandras Park with a 8-1 victory in August and have won all five league games they have played so far this season.
But, hope spring eternal – the weather has been far better in the last couple of days and the forecast isn’t too shabby for Wednesday. Let’s hope we can get the game on and that the first team rises to the challenge.
Admission prices on Wednesday evening will be the usual £3.00 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
