It is promising to be a busy weekend for Presteigne St Andrews FC as – unusually this season – both the first team and the Reserves are due to play on Saturday afternoon – 23 November.
The first team will be at Llanandras Park for a MMP with Norman Lloyd League, second division game against Machynlleth – although this game will be subject to an early-morning pitch inspection on Saturday.
This is down to the weather forecast predicting rain from midday onwards on Friday.
Assuming the game does go ahead, the visitors will arrive at Presteigne as league leaders which, in itself, should give some idea as to the scale of the task facing Terry Williams’ side.
But Terry will be looking to his side to pick up from where they left off last weekend at Newbridge-on-Wye when they came from 4-0 down at half-time to end up going down 4-3 in their Central Wales Cup tie.
Machynlleth had what might be termed an iffy start to the season in that they drew 3-3 at home to Rhayader Town in their opening fixture and then went down 5-2 at Penparcau in their second.
But since then they haven’t looked back as they have produced seven wins on the spin to move a point clear of Newbridge at the top of the table.
As for the Reserves, they will head to Talgarth Town for their Mid Wales League (South) fixture.
This promises to be another testing afternoon as Talgarth are third in the table and showing signs of running into some good form.
They have won their last four league matches in which they have rattled in 17 goals and haven’t conceded one.
The first-team game is due to kick off at 2.30pm and the admission prices will be the usual £3.00 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
