Mixed news on the Saturday-afternoon football front as we have one game off, but the other match goes ahead as scheduled.
The first team’s MMP with Norman Lloyd League second-division game against Machynlleth on Saturday, 23 November has been postponed.
To be fair, club officials had some doubt about the fixture on Friday because, although the pitch was in good shape at that point, the weather forecast was pretty grim for Friday afternoon and overnight.
The boys and girls at the Met Office were on the money – it caned it down throughout Friday afternoon and well into the night and, while it has eased up to a degree, there was still some rain about on Saturday morning.
Understandably given the distances involved in their travel, Machynlleth wanted an early decision and so a pitch inspection was carried out at 9.30am at which it soon became obvious there was no chance of the game going ahead.
There is far better news from Talgarth Town who carried out an inspection at 10.00am ahead of the Mid Wales League (South) fixture against Presteigne Reserves.
Talgarth report the pitch is fine and so the game will go ahead as planned.
Here’s hoping Bryn Roberts’ side can come home with something to show for their efforts from that one.
