Unfortunately it was to prove a fruitless Saturday, 7 December for both Presteigne St Andrews FC and Presteigne Reserves.
The first team was always likely to be up against it when they hosted Penparcau in a MMP with Norman Lloyd League second division game at Llanandras Park.
Penparcau maintained the 100 percent record that has seen them largely dominate the division so far this season with a 5-1 victory in this one.
The visitors were reportedly 3-0 up at half-time in what was Alan Stocker’s first game in charge and went on to close out what was a convincing win with a very solid performance.
Jack Brindley was on target for Presteigne’s consolation goal.
The gap between Presteigne and third-bottom Abermule is now five points although Alan Stocker’s side does have three games in hand over the Montgomeryshire side.
Knighton Town remain some way back in bottom spot on minus-six points.
Meanwhile, the Reserves went down 4-0 in their Mid Wales League (South) fixture at Brecon Northcote.
That defeat leaves the Reserves in tenth place in the 13-club division which now has Rhayader Town Reserves propping up the table after a points deduction saw them slip below second-bottom Felindre.
