No joy for either side in the weekend fixtures

No joy for either side last time out

Neither the first team nor the Reserves had cause to celebrate on Saturday, 25 January as both were beaten in their respective league fixtures.

To be fair, both games were likely to be a tough ask – the first team hosted an in-form Machynlleth side in their MMP with Norman Lloyd second-division fixture at Llanandras Park while the Reserves headed to Hay St Mary’s in the Mid Wales League (South).

The first team was beaten 5-1 in their game and so remain only one place off the foot of the table.

They maintained their six-point advantage over bottom side, Knighton Town who were beaten 4-1 by visiting Churchstoke.

As for the Reserves, well, similarly it was likely to be tough for them at Hay St Mary’s whose first team withdrew from the MMP with Norman Lloyd league earlier in the season.

This has presumably enabled Hay to focus all their attention on the ‘Reserve’ side in the ‘South’ and so they were strong enough to keep Bryn Roberts’ side at arm’s length as Hay ran out 3-1 winners.

So, we are hoping the new month will bring new fortune for both teams – although the Reserves are yet to see out January.

With no game this weekend for the first team, the Reserves will take centre stage on Friday, 31 January when they will host Llanidloes Town Reserves in a Mid Wales League (South) fixture.

Friday’s game will be a 7.30pm kick off at Llanandras Park and the admission prices will be the usual £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and those under the age of 16.
