Presteigne St Andrews manager Tim Broome is to look to strengthen his squad after a bolt from the blue in which one key member of his midfield has announced he will be unavailable for the foreseeable future.
“We were rocked at training on Thursday night with the news that young midfielder Joel Leversedge has booked a last-minute flight to Australia and is going to stay with out there with family,” said Tim
“Joel is good young player, he has a good engine and excellent technically.
“He is a cracking lad and he will be missed,” he added.
Eighteen-year-old Leversedge is a former Shrewsbury youth team player who has been a key member of the squad since his arrival from Westfields early in the season.
Broome has identified three possible replacements and is hopeful of securing one of them in time for the Central Wales Cup fixture against Welshpool this Saturday.
A seven-day notice has been served on Newtown’s Dan Dawson, while Jack Keating who trialed in a mid-week friendly is still a possibility, as is Tom Evans, a pre-season target who was previously with TNS.
