The Mid Wales League has confirmed that Knighton Town FC have withdrawn from the East Division with immediate effect.
Rumours had been doing the rounds for some time that the Bryn-y-Castell side was having issues and the Mid Wales League confirmed earlier today that Knighton were to pull out of the league.
In a brief statement on the league’s website, they confirmed Knighton has formally made the decision on Monday, 6 December and that it had come following the resignation of the club’s manager Mark Jones.
The league further said that Knighton Town FC plans to issue a statement.
It is always a shame when a club has to withdraw from a league for such reasons and no doubt Knighton Town will regroup and look to return to the Mid Wales League at some time in the future.
It will be interesting to see what this decision means for Knighton’s Reserve side who presumably could be stronger as a result of it.
Knighton Reserves are due to provide Presteigne St Andrews with their opposition at Llanandras Park on Boxing Day.
