Presteigne St Andrews FC’s scheduled home match against Knighton Town Reserves on Sunday, 26 December has been postponed.
As has been widely publicised, changes in Welsh government rules over spectators at live sporting events means we would not have been allowed fans at the game.
The irony of our being allowed supporters in the clubhouse on Boxing Day, but not to watch the game was not entirely lost on us but the rules are the rules.
Clearly, the prospect of missing out on a potential decent pay day was the main factor and so it was agreed to request a postponement of the fixture.
Our thanks to Knighton Town Reserves and the Mid Wales League (South) for agreeing to the request.
We will advise of a new date for the fixture as and when we get the details.
