It won’t come as much of a surprise to anyone living in or near the LD8 postcode, but both scheduled Mid Wales League (South) matches involving our teams on Saturday, 8 January were called off.
CP Llanandras’ home match against Penybont United was in doubt from very early on Saturday morning.
The heavy overnight rain had left standing water on some areas of the pitch and a pitch inspection mid-morning led to the only sensible decision being take – match postponed.
Presteigne St Andrews FC were due to head to Felindre for their game but this was also called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Again, it is reported there was standing water on parts of the pitch there so, on safety grounds. there would be no way the game could really have gone ahead.
Presteigne are planning a friendly match against Clee Hill at Llanandras Park on Wednesday, 12 January in order to dust off any post-Christmas cobwebs in the squad.
The kick off in that one will be at 7.45pm and anyone planning on attending is reminded that Welsh government Covid-19 regulations will apply in both the ground and the clubhouse.
Then, on Saturday, 15 January, Presteigne St Andrews will head to Brecon for a Mid Wales League (South) game where the kick off will be at 2.00pm.
CP Llanandras are not scheduled to have a fixture this coming weekend.
