Presteigne St Andrews FC and CP Llanandras both enjoyed productive away trips on Saturday, 29 January.
Presteigne headed to St Harmon where they were to run out winners by five goals to two in their Mid Wales League (South) fixture.
The Presteigne goalscorers were: Jack Brindley, Tom Lewis, Lewis Jones – with two – and Louis Gilpin.
As good a result as that was for Presteigne St Andrews, CP Llanandras’ efforts in securing a draw at Penybont United almost overshadowed it.
Penybont are flying high towards the top of the table and they must have seriously fancied their chances when hosting a CP Llanandras side that is yet to put a win on the board this season.
But Bryn Roberts’ side dug deep in this one to earn what most felt was a deserved point from a 2-2 draw.
After a goal-less first half, it didn’t take long for Penybont to break the deadlock when they scored from a well worked free kick three minutes into the second half.
But CP Llanandras were level inside five minutes – Conran Webb touching the ball into the path of Michael Edwards who applied the finishing touch.
Penybont regained the lead courtesy of a tap-in at the far post following a deep cross, but CP Llanandras were to rally again and Liam Hammond marked his debut for the club by volleying home the second equaliser.
A red card for Gareth Bull did little to take the gloss off what was a fine performance by CP Llanandras who must surely take heart from this performance as they build into future matches.
