Two-one defeats for both sides

Knighton Reserves beat Presteigne at Bryn-y-Castell
Knighton Reserves beat Presteigne in a tight game at Bryn-y-Castell

It was to prove a highly frustrating weekend for both Presteigne St Andrews FC and CP Llanandras as both went down to narrow one-goal defeats.

It began on Friday, 11 February when CP Llanandras took on title-hopefuls Penybont United at Llanandras Park.

The sides had battled out a 2-2 draw at The Racecourse as recently as 29 January so would have known each other well heading into this one.

Penybont started the brighter and were in front, only for CP Llanandras to hit back with an equaliser on the half-hour mark.

It was 1-1 at half-time, but it was Penybont went on to seal the win when they scored a second goal after the break for a 2-1 victory.

Saturday, 12 February saw Presteigne St Andrews FC head over the hill to take on Knighton Town Reserves for their Mid Wales League (South) fixture.

Among those travelling to support the side was Haydn Williams who summed up the game as follows:

“A competitive game – Presteigne well on top first half missing a host of chances, and Knighton dominated the chances in the second half.

Well done to all that played ,we look forward to welcoming Knighton to Llanandras Park later in the season.”

Saturday, 19 February will be CP Llanandras’ turn to head to Knighton Town Reserves, while Presteigne St Andrews FC will host Hay St Mary’s Reserves at Llanandras Park.
