The scheduled weekend matches for Presteigne St Andrews FC and CP Llanandras didn’t happen – no great surprise to anyone, really, given we are now in the midst of what can only be described as the ‘Mid Wales monsoon season’.
Waterlogged pitches put paid to Presteigne St Andrews FC’s scheduled home match against Hay St Mary’s Reserves while CP Llanandras’ proposed trip to Knighton Town Reserves was also off for the same reason.
Storm Eunice is soon to be followed by Storm Franklin with apparently Storm Gladys just around the corner (I might have made that last bit up) but, either way, it’s not looking too promising for CP Llanandras’ scheduled home game against Felindre on Tuesday, 22 February.
For those not living in the LD8 postcode, as with the rest of the UK, we have our fair share of the soft refreshing in recent days and so there has to be some doubt over the game.
A squad of the great and the good from the committee will don their wellies and head down to the ground for a 1.00pm inspection on Tuesday, 22 February.
Assuming the ground isn’t waterlogged and the pod of dolphins have moved on from the Lugg View-end goalmouth, then the game will be on – but I think it’s fair to say it will need to dry up a bit.
We will post the outcome of the pitch inspection on here and also on the club’s social media just as soon as it becomes available.
