Presteigne St Andrews FC are through to the final of the Mid Wales League Cup final after a dramatic extra-time win over Penybont United at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 12 March.
Presteigne battled hard to hold their visitors to a one-all draw until the 88th minute when ‘the Bont’ netted to take a lead which had seemingly broken Presteigne hearts.
But, to their credit, Presteigne dug in and somehow they managed to come up with an equaliser in the final minute of the game.
So, extra time was upon us – and how often have we all seen a side work really hard to come up with a late, late equaliser only to then let it slip in the extra 30 minutes?
Not on this occasion – Presteigne took it up another level in extra time to come up with a winner and o they booked their place in the final in which they will take on Builth Wells Reserves.
Builth’s second string booked their place in the final with a two-one win at Felindre.
Tom Lewis and Lewis Jones with a brace were the Presteigne goalscorers.
Presteigne will have a chance to take a look at their League Cup final opponents on Wednesday, 16 March as they will host Builth Wells Reserves in a 7.30pm kick off at Llanandras Park.
CP Llanandras were always likely to be up against it in their Mid Wales League (South) game at Talgarth Town and so it proved as the home side ran out six-one winners.
