Presteigne game off, but Llanandras are at home

It’s a home game for CP Llanandras

There was frustration for Presteigne St Andrews FC this week when Covid-19 once again reared its none-too-attractive head and led to a number of players testing positive.

This, combined with others who are struggling with injuries, meant John Haycox’s side was unable to field a side for the scheduled trip to Builth Wells Reserves in the Mid Wales League (South) on Saturday, 26 March.

Our apologies to Builth Wells Reserves and our thanks to the league officials for their cooperation.  Obviously, our main concerns are for those players affected and we wish them all a speedy recovery.

Anecdotaly (as I am no medical expert) Covid-19 rates are on the rise in the area and so it probably isn’t that surprising we have been hit this way – we probably won’t be the last club to call off a game this season because of this issue.

The fact CP Llanandras didn’t have a game last weekend has probably worked in their favour in this regard.

There was obviously less mixing among the players than there would normally have been and so their scheduled home game against Talgarth Town will go ahead as planned.

This is promising to be another stiff test of Bryn Roberts’ squad, not least because they beat Llanandras six-one in the first league meeting between the sides only a fortnight ago.

But, hope springs eternal and it’s a lovely day to take in a bit of live football so, if you fancy taking in a bit of fresh air, then Llanandras Park is the place to be this afternoon for a 2.00pm kick off.
