Presteigne St Andrews FC rounded off their Mid Wales League (South) season with a four-nil defeat at champions-elect, Builth Wells Reserves.
Builth had clinched the title with victory over John Haycox’s side at Llanandras Park seven days earlier.
But any thoughts that there might be something of a hangover from the table-toppers for this their final game proved unfounded as they closed out the league season in style.
Builth Reserves finished five points clear of second-placed Brecon at the top of the table with Talgarth Town a further two points back in third place.
Presteigne St Andrews finished the league season in seventh place in the division with seven wins and three draws from our 20 league matches.
While CP Llanandras might have finished bottom of the table, they were competitive in many of their league games this season and saved the best to last when they picked up that win at St Harmon in their final math of the campaign.
No doubt there will be some big decisions to be made by the committee in the coming weeks as to what level the sides play at next season.
But, in the meantime, here’s hoping the players enjoy the summer break and come back all guns blazing for pre-season and then the start of another league campaign in August or September.
Many thanks to all the players who have turned out for both clubs this season – and in particular to the management and coaches of both sides for the efforts they have put into ensuring we have fulfilled fixtures and have essentially given it our best shot throughout the campaign.
