Presteigne St Andrews FC are delighted to announce that Corin Jones has been appointed the club’s new manager.
Corin brings with him a wealth of experience as a player with Llandrindod Wells and Knighton Town.
He also took his first steps into management while at Bryn-y-Castell as he was the assistant manager with The Robins.
Corin feels it’s an exciting time to be taking over at Llanandras Park given that the club is back in the Mid Wales League where it will feature in the southern division this season.
“Presteigne are a club that should be playing at this level so it’s good that the committee has opted to take the promotion,” said Corin.
“It’s now up to us to put a team on the field that will be competitive and, to do that we are going to need the commitment of the players throughout the season, but I am sure they will rise to the challenge.”
Presteigne’s chairman Mark Weiland is pleased the appointment has been finalised well before the start of the season.
“We are really pleased that Corin has agreed to take on the role as he has a good knowledge of both the level of football we are going to be playing in and also of local players,” said Mark.
“We are keen to build on the good work done last season in which a lot of young players were exposed to competitive football and they will be stronger for that experience.
“I’m delighted Chris Shurmer has agreed to stay on as assistant manager this season as that will give us some continuity which is obviously important as Chris knows our squad well,” he added.
Pre-season training will start on Wednesday, 6 July at 6.30pm on the John Beddoes School field and all prospective players are welcome.
